Reach every parent, not just the connected ones.
Push notifications reach guardians with the app. SMS reaches all of them. Wherever a meaningful share of guardians don't carry a smartphone — a large share of schools, Kenya very much included — SMS remains the only channel with genuinely complete coverage, so it is a first-class channel in Msomi rather than an afterthought.
Absence alerts, fee reminders, result publication and bus notifications are generated by events in the system. Nobody sits down to write them.
Recipients are selected by class, stream, route, fee status or any other list the system already knows, rather than by maintaining a separate contact list that goes out of date.
A school’s ability to communicate is limited by its least connected parent. Any strategy built purely on an app or a portal will reach the families who need it least and miss the ones who need it most.
Msomi treats SMS as a first-class channel. Every notification the system generates — unexplained absence, published results, fee balance reminders, bus alerts, one-time codes for account setup — can be delivered by SMS to any handset, and arrives from a recognisable sender ID rather than an unknown number.
The messages that matter most are not written by anyone. They are generated by things happening: a learner marked absent, an exam series published, a fee falling overdue, a bus approaching a stop. The school configures which events notify whom, and then stops thinking about it.
Because the system already knows the school’s structure, recipients are selected by class, stream, transport route or fee status rather than from a separately maintained contact list. Phone numbers are normalised to international format on entry, which quietly removes the most common cause of failed delivery.
A demo runs about forty minutes and uses your own class lists, frameworks and grading — so you are looking at your school rather than a sample database.
Or try it first — the Trial tier gives you a full term, free, with every module unlocked. See plans.
Either way we confirm your school by phone before activating it, so you are live usually within one working day.
