Academic frameworks

Built for the curriculum you actually teach, not a generic template.

Basic plan and above

Why it matters

01

Run two curricula without running two systems

Plenty of schools teach a national curriculum in the lower years and an exam-board curriculum higher up — CBC into KCSE in Kenya, or a different pair elsewhere — and international schools often add Cambridge or IB on top. Msomi models the framework as a first-class object, so each one keeps its own levels, subjects and grading rules inside a single school.

02

Change the curriculum without rebuilding the school

Curriculum reform is a fact of life for most education systems, not just one country's. Because levels, subjects and grading systems hang off a framework rather than being hard-coded, adapting to a change is a configuration exercise rather than a migration.

03

Set it up in an afternoon

Download the generated Excel template, fill in your frameworks and levels, and import. Msomi validates the whole file and tells you exactly which rows need attention before anything is saved.

A school management system that assumes one curriculum is a school management system that will be wrong within two years. Curriculum reform and transition are the norm, not the exception, worldwide — Kenyan schools have spent the last decade moving between systems, running transitional cohorts and, in many cases, teaching two curricula at once while a transition works its way up the school, and schools elsewhere face the same kind of change on their own timelines.

Msomi treats the academic framework as a configurable object rather than an assumption baked into the code. A framework carries a code and a description — CBC, “Competency Based Curriculum”; KCSE, “Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education”; IGCSE, “Cambridge Curriculum”; or any code and description your school chooses — and everything academic hangs off it.

Why this matters in practice

Levels belong to a framework, so Grade 6 and Form 2 can coexist without colliding. Subjects are offered at particular levels within a framework, so Integrated Science appearing in one and not the other is simply data. Grading systems are attached to frameworks and levels, so a CBC performance level and a KCSE mean grade — or any other pair of incompatible scales — are never accidentally averaged together.

The result is that a school running a transitional cohort does not need a second system, a second login or a second set of reports. It needs a second framework.

See Frameworks working on your school data

A demo runs about forty minutes and uses your own class lists, frameworks and grading — so you are looking at your school rather than a sample database.

Or try it first — the Trial tier gives you a full term, free, with every module unlocked. See plans.

Either way we confirm your school by phone before activating it, so you are live usually within one working day.
